Spent the day at Overton with little bird activity. Were fortunate to get one Ruddy Duck early. Mostly all local ducks that have been around for awhile. They seem to spend most of their day at the crazy Doctors property adjacent to the refuge. He has apparently decided to feed them twice a day, built ponds and has posted his property all the way around with signs claiming to be a bird sanctuary. I only hunt this place evry few years and now I remember why. Ran into a few old friends and made some new ones. The WMA manager was a friendly as ever. Chatted with a few groups that had a duck or two. My best analysis of this place is that if the migration is on, you'll have much more activity, if not, long days with few flyers. Drove past the Doctors place out of curiosity and saw hundreds of ducks and geese, a sanctuary after all.

I will definately call the day successful. A day in the field with a good friend, two happy dogs and life is good!
