I'm bored..and It's not duck season yet..so I figured I'd take some pics of my calls while I had them out playing around with them.

Just like little works of art. Which, in a way, I guess they are.

OK..first up. One of my newest additions. Rowdy/DOA Double Trouble in Black Acrylic.

Here is the Echo Diamondwood/Poly

Reid Threadgill Custom Oregon Refuge Gang Call for 2003. it is number 2 of 17 that he made for us..notice that little blond streak in the wood on the insert. Mine was the only one like that. I thought it added something special.

"The 'Ol Duck Killer"...RNT ShortBarrel in Bois D'Arc. With all the calls I have..if I had to keep only one, I think this is still it. Maybe it's just sentimental value..lots of ducks lost their life 'cuz of this call. it's hard to walk away from a proven performer.

I really like it. It's a great call for the timber or working ducks that are real close. It's one of my favorites. I just really like how it sounds. I put a new cork and reed in it last week and it sounds even better.

if i were Bret it would sound a lot better...lol.

Actually, i am very happy with it. I do indeed have a wood call fetish, not to mention a single reed fetish. no one was more shocked than i was that i bought an acrylic double reed call.

Don't let him kid ya. SP sounded great on that call. I am anxious to hear him now he has had it a couple of weeks. I ended up buying one from that batch of calls too.
I will get some pics taken tonight. I don't know when I will be able to post them I am still trying to patch up my home system.

Bret - thanks for the compliment. I am still working on getting that call to really "sing" for me....just a matter of time and finding the right tuning set up. actually, the original tuning it had right out of the box was perfect. I am still looking to get it juuuust right.

FYI -Bret has me tuning and re-tuning this call as a part of my neverending learning process..so believe me when i say that any shortcomings i may have with this call are 100% MY fault. Normally i have a strict policy about tuning my own calls...and that is simply, "DON'T DO IT". lol.

Sp just a little practice and you will get it. Did you save the original so you can put it back in to compare or if you get frustrated.Being able to cut your own reed is a very good thing to know how to do. Then when you screw up your reed the night before a hunt, or your cork needs replaced you can fix it.

What is that Reid Threadgill call like? I think it is good lookin'.

I hear ya on the being able to tune your own calls..i've been wanting to learn how to do it and i can't thank you enough for taking the time to show me how.

The Threadgill is a nice call. I don't hunt with it much..i took it out a couple of times and it is a really nice soft finisher. mine is tuned as a timber call, but he will make them in an open water model too. It is real ducky and lets you make nice clean quacks with very little air...perfect for getting that bird that keeps hanging up about 40 yards out to change his mind and commit.

alas, i finally decided that i enjoyed looking at it more than i did hunting with it..hated to think about it getting all beat up. so it sits on my shelf now..makes a nice convo piece.
