my pup dixie is about 20 weeks old. I have been working with her just trying to get her retrieving genes going. nothing too formal just go get it and bring it back to me. She used to retrieve the bumpers or the dokkens eagerly but then all of sudden she quit. she would either just go out to it sniff it and leave it alone or not do anything but if you throw a ball she goes and gets it no problem any suggestions.

First take away all toys. Don't work her at all for four or five days. No retrieves at all. When you finally get ready to work her on bumpers tease her with it . Throw a short easy retrieve and then run like somebody set fire to you as soon as she picks it up. She should come on the run with the bumper. Keep it easy and simple til she is used to working with the bumper. No playing for a few days will make her eager to go.

she probably is teething. I am at the beach and she is at home and my roommate is looking after her. I will be home tomorrow and will know for sure then

my 3 year old does the same thing sometimes he'll go get the bumper a couple times then just go sniff it and come back
