I have a 12 wk lab. He knows his sit and stay fairly well, but when I throw the dummy, he doesn't seem to get the fact that he is supposed to bring it back. He will run after it and start playing with it. When I call him, he'll run back to me, leaving the dummy. Any advice will help.

At 12 weeks he is really young. The fact that he is running to it and picking it up is what you're looking for. Keep your training sessions short - 2 or 3 bumpers. He'll get it. Have fun with your new pup and congrats!

Find a toy he really loves to play with. For my pup it was a stuffed duck with a squeaky thing in it...he loves that thing. Play fetch with that instead of a bumper until he gets the fact that bringing things back means you will throw them again.

He sounds like a normal Lab pupparoo to me. Keep your bumper sessions very short (2-3) twice a day and work on OB.
Bond with him and gain his trust. He'll be just fine if you don't pressure him. Enjoy his puppyhood, it won't last long.
