Congratulations!

Conservation ID number XXXXXXXXX was drawn for a waterfowl quick draw reservation at Grand Pass.

The hunt will be on 10/30/2010. Draw time is at 4:30 AM.

You have been given "Pill" Number: 1

Important Notes:
•You must be at the waterfowl area by the time drawings begin for hunting spots (see the Waterfowl Reservation System Draw Times State Wide for times at your area).
•If you are not at the area ready for the draw at the draw time, you will not be allowed to hunt under your reservation.
•50 percent of the available hunting slots will be allocated to reservation holders, and 50 percent to non-reservation holders who show up each morning. Reservation holders are guaranteed that they will get to hunt that morning, but not guaranteed first choice of place to hunt ahead of non- reservation holders, since everyone who will be hunting each morning will go through a drawing to determine who gets first choice of hunting spots.
•Hunters 16 years and older need a Small Game Hunting Permit, a Missouri Migratory Bird Hunting Permit and a federal Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp (federal duck stamp).

And my old man got this email..

hey CP it looks like this NOT DRAWN Grand Pass CA 10/30/2010 :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: :lol3: just a joke this new system is,heck i will make sure i put in for every day even though i wont go to grand pass

Um, not quite.
If I played the poor line game at GP for Sat, Sun or Mon of this week, it would be very unlikely that I would have drawn in. However, it is 100% certain that I would have lost $100 in gas $$$ driving over there attempting to get in.

What just took place is that, instead of the above situation and wasted gas/time/effort, I (and many of you) just electronically stood in line for GP for three days, without spending a dime on gas. The electrinic line was longer, yes, but it COST ME NOTHING TO TRY AND SAVED ME ALL THE RISK.

Further, since I know that I did not draw for these three days (no suprise there), I now know that I can head to Shanks to play the poor line, or head to the river with greater certainty about how my day will end up.

Not sure I see this as a negative, boys. And let's be honest... if GP was not the state-suibsidized personal duck club of so many local guys, I think that more people might agree with me. :fingerpt: Nothing against the locals... it is just that the reality is that so few of us are local to GP.

I will draw a few times this year. That is all I want... fair and square... with no waste. Thank you MDC.

I am confused.

A friend of mine did get drawn. We are going to be hunting Sunday morning.

That isn't what the email looked like at all. I guess you were just being dumb in an attempt to make fun of the system. I don't like it either but I am going to take full advantage of it as much as possible.

By the way I received the success email at 8:00 pm last night, in case anyone wanted to know.

cp where do you think all the folks who did not draw into the pass or eagle bluffs or otter slough will be?Lets see next week they will all be at ted shanks, marias temp, columbia bottoms, duck creek,so do you think your odds of spending $75 for gas, getting up at 1am to make the drive to stand in a line with 150 parties is gonna make you like this system? You go out this weekend and next weekend to ted shanks go both days on each weekend and tell me how much you really like all the extra pressure that the qickdraw has put on the other areas :hammer:

Your odds of drawing against 80 -100 parties at the pass under the old system is greater than sitting at home and playing quickie draw against 10, 000 people ...............You wanna hunt those places do the time and pay your dues .....not play lotto from home ...........its a sham

hey cp, you will have some better odds of poor line at shanks on mon....i have a reservation and cant make it. might be the same for my brother on tues at bk leach.

At least when i put in for grand pass on sunday, i knew i could for sure go if i wouold of been drawn. Pretty sure im gonna have to work on mon and tues. sucks but your welcome poor line.

Ahhhhh, haaaaaaa! Yah right. I will be looking for the tidal wave of people who put in through quick draw... which according to your logic, caused them to head over to MTC, TS, and CB. :lol3: :lol3: And, the load of guys in the east side has nothing to do with the fact that it is OPENING DAY, and these guys (like ol' CP here) would not have had a snowball's chance in Hades of poor lining it in GP.

The Quick Draw is an improvement. Lots of competition, but less risk to attempt.

News Flass..... (de, de, de, de det, de, de, de det,de, de, de det)... the online attempt of 10, 000 people working for those GP spaces.... those are GUYS LIKE ME!   We never had a chance before. At least now we have a 1 in whaterver-number-it-is chance.

Not that this is the true ratio, but one in 20 through the quick draw is still better than 1 in 5 with the added cost of gas just to take the wager. :fingerhead:

Trust me, eating at the Waffle House in Columbia MO (100 miles from me) at 4:50am is not nearly as much fun as eating at the Waffle House down the road from my home at 8:30am.
