Fauci articulates one of the most important constitutional changes we should have. Term limits for bureaucrats. These ****ing people should not be "serving" the people for generations. It's not "their" government or "their" agency. It's all the people's, but when you are there for your decades, you are prone to forget that.
Absolutely agree 100%, but good luck with that. The people I know who have gone to work for the government start counting the days to retirement on day 2. Only 10,999 days to go until I get paid for the rest of my life for not working.
It would really be awesome if there was a ten year limit. You can work for the government (at any level) for ten years only. Then you have to get a real job where there are performance targets and the real possibility of getting fired if you are bad at your job.
My sis in law worked for the federal gubment for 30 years, and not one day more. She was always on vacation or comp time or sick days or flex days or something. Literally took a month off to go to Europe and never got a call or glanced at email. Though I'd ask her in casual conversation about what she did, I could never figure it out. Sounded like she checked boxes on form to document that government contractors were doing the real work.
Without any exaggeration, for a year at a time, they had nothing for her and others to do, and unlike the real world, they were not laid off. They were told to go to the local community colleges and take any courses they wanted. Tax payers covered the bill, and all they had to do is turn in the 37.5 hour timecard.
Utter waste, but pales by comparison to this congress.
