I usually kill 3 or 4 greenheads...let the suzies go to breed more of'em. I usually round out my limit with a pintail or a black (or both if I only kill 3 mallards). Best spot is right where the observation pier used to be. It washed out in November so the area is closed to everybody but hunters and trappers. See ya there on Monday  :welcome:

New hunter to the area... is this area regulated by quota hunting or lottery access? Or is it open to anyone, anytime?

Anyone heading out this weekend who wouldnt mind some company?

Oh yeah, can you really not hunt on Sundays in VA?

Seriously? Allow me to introduce you to www.google.com or www.yahoo.com You can actually go to one of those sites and search for VA hunting regulations and, you wouldn't believe it, but the first site to come up under the search is the game and fish department hunting regulations. Once you're there, you can read the laws from the official game department website that will tell when you can and can't hunt and in what places. It really is neat, you should try it. :welcome:

Sorry,

I didn't mean to offend you. I didn't realize anything I said was nasty. I thought everything I said was fact and I had given you a tool to answer nearly every hunting in VA question you might have. There really aren't that many rules and they aren't really hard to understand (maybe hard to understand why they are there, but not hard to comprehend how to comply). I also didn't stop to think that maybe you were too busy spend much time online looking the rules so I'll post the Hunting at Ragged Island WMA portion of the regs:

"Hunting at the Ragged Island Wildlife Management Area is by lottery only. Applications are available at www.vaquotahunts.com and must be submitted by August 1 each calendar year.

**Special note: Due to the popularity of bird watching and the close proximity of Ragged Island WMA to populated areas, the WMA will be closed to hunting after the 2009/2010 season."

PS: hunting on Sunday is only illegal if you get caught :fingerpt:

This wouldn't suprise me one bit. Might not happen next year but you can bet that the anti's are working on it right now.

The last time I was at Ragged Island the parking lot was littered with dozens of big dildos. The Game Warden told me that it was a local hangout for the "alternative lifestyle crowd" and evidently someone must have gotten mad at someone and threw all of their toys out.

I didn't get out of the truck and I ain't been back. You "guys" have a good time.
