I heard from another hunter today that all the sacramento area refuges are closing due to flooding! Does anyone know if this is true? That would real suck for the guys up north! It would also suck for the central and southern cal duck hunters with more hunters coming south for the end of the season. Talk about crowed. Talk about no hunters up north to shoot birds to send them flying south! Not trying to spread a rumor just curious. I really would like to know if this is true? :pissed:

I hunt private land adjacently west of Delevan, south of Gunner's Field, right near the hunting check-in station for Delevan. It was definitely not open when I drove out past it this morning at 6:15. Also, 4 Mile Road was flooded at parts.

 Hunted Little Dry Creek New Years Day. No restrictions. Had some wind from the south going. There weren't a lot of birds flying. We ended with 6 widgeon. I expected better. I guess it was should have been here last week. It was good to see another part of the flyway though. I had only hunted the Banos area for 20+ yrs. Went driving around the day before and there was lots of water around the valley. I am surprised about the flooding and restrictions. By New Years Day, a lot of the creeks and flood zones were receding. Drove through Sac refuge and have never seen so many ducks huddling up on the islands. One was a sprig island, that did not have any more room on it. There were thousands just sitting there. Mallards too in other islands and along the shorelines. Of course it was the closed zone. 100 yards away there was nothing. Tons of geese in the valley though.
