Hey everyone,
I thought things were movin kinda slow in here, so I figured I'd start a new topic. And I couldnt wait to show Y'all my new pics...........Mostly the second part

I went bear huntin this past weekend, and while I did not git a bear  , I DID have an awsome time bonding w/my Dad and friends, and THAT is what it is all REALLY all about!..................mostly

So here are a few good scenic pics w/ me and my hunting buddies (which this time did not include the dog..... )

This was at like 11 O'clock at night, while cooking burgers for dinner.

That was me on top of the tree line, tryin to sneek down on them lil suckers.

And last of all, a pic of good 'Ol Dad!

Now its your turn......... Show us all how your "bonding" trips and "outdoor activites" turned out!

How long is the seasonup there? Are you going back? Good luck if you do.
The ending date depends on where you go... where I went, it is till May 31. In some places it is all year round.

I hope to go to a different place before the 15th of June.

Yeah!

That is one of the beautifull things about AK. In the summers, we have darn near 24 hours of sunlight, it is hard to go to bed

I figured that's what it was. That is amazing. I can't imagine it never getting dark. Can you hunt all 24 hours then or do they close it at "night."

Big game is not like waterfowl, atleast in AK.

If it is in season, you CAN hunt/shoot it at any hour of the day. However, it is better to wait till early morning, and in the evenings. That is when most big game are moving, eating, or even hunting in this case.

Great question.

Hey stouff, in the winter you guys have close to 24 hrs of darkness, right? What happens to hunting times for birds? Heck, how do you hunt them at all? Just curious.

Yeah, we have (depending on where you are in the state), very little sunlight--->almoast less than 30 min of sunlight a day!

But the hours you can hunt the birds (fowls), just goes along w/ the 1/2 hour before sunrise thing. It just gets later, and later in the day!

Feel free to ask as much as you would like!

Jeez, that stinks, only an hour and a half of hunting. I bet the birds fly all day though . I think that would get a little depressing after a while... I don't know, that's just me. My dad flies planes up there (to anchorage) occasionally and drives out to the Russian River when the sockeyes are running. Last time he was up there he landed two. Ever do any salmon fishing? Any tips for him? He can use all the help he can get since I'm not up there to show him how its done :toofunny:

But see, the birds start their migration from up here, so by that time, there is almoast no hunting left.......

But as far as the salmon. Yes, I have gone for salmon. The only tip I can give him is to gather a larger vocabulary..... Cuz sayin the same 4 letter words gets REALLY old......

Lol yeah he said that there were a lot of snags. He flies for American Airlines and just started going international. He'll fly to the carribean, mexico, hawaii, alaska, and all over europe. He just got back from Puerto Rico a few days ago. He likes goin to Alaska the best though...during the summer.
