Hoping someone can help. The good news is that I got a screaming deal on teal decoys this past weekend. The bad news is that the drakes are painted in full late-season spendor. We have some great teal hunting here, in Montana, but it is typically over quick and for "early season" i.e. "not full plumed" birds.

I want to repaint my drakes...can anyone help w/ a couple pics of early season birds?

I would suggest paint most of them to look like hens. Keep a couple drakes in the mix it won't hurt a thing. Teal generally are not real picky.

We have a site posted over in the NY forum, that has pic's of ducks and geese for painting reference for decoys. It only has three pic's of Green Wings, two drakes and a hen, it might help. Up at the top of the post I explain the steps, it's easy.
