RSI HW13 loads and Fed209A primers

I am looking to switch primer from Win 209 or Ched 209 to a hotter primer (thinking FED209A) for better powder ignition in RSI HW13 load data (ASTEEL powder,12 GA)My reason is for Montana late season cold weather. I assume I will need to drop a few grains of powder but curious to know if anyone has any experience at this and would be willing to share experience or opinion. The loads I use presently are #13 and #22 (vol. 4). and lot #39 ASTEEL. While I'm at it has anyone substituted wads from Sam 1 using HW13? Thanking you in advance!

Can't help but interested in the response as well.
I have RSI Heavyweight Shot Reloader's Guide Volume 3.

#13 is a 1-1/2 oz load in a 3" Cheddite hull, Win 209 primer with 37 gr of Alliant Steel powder.

#22 is a 2-3/4" Federal Gold Medal hull with Win 209 primer, 1-1/4 oz of shot with 36 gr of Alliant Steel Powder.

After sending off Alliant Steel powder loads to have tested that I got the data from BPI's old Hevi-Shot reloading data I have backed way off on the Steel powder.

On both of those #13 and #22 loads I would drop 5.0 gr off of each load if you want to use the Fed 209A primer. I would drop them both 3.0 gr if you stick with the Win 209 primer.

I have some test data sheets for 3" Fiocchi 1-1/2 oz loads, 3" 1-3/8 oz loads and a 2-3/4" Fiocchi 1-1/4 oz load if you want to look at them for reference. Send me your e-mail address in a PM and I will e-mail you the test data sheets.

With RSI 22 and Lot 39 drop one grain of STEEL and sub the Federal 209A, that should bring you in at 1475 -1500 fps and right around 11,000 psi.
With RSI 13 that works fairly well in the cold, I've used it in the teens and twenties with no problems as long as you use the CX2000 primer. If you look at RSI 15 that is running fairly high pressure and may be better for you in extreme cold than RSI 13, with 1 1/2 oz 3 " loads you should be OK in the cold as there is enough payload weight to give adequate pressure for good ignition.

Good data and data points here to work tss options as well. I’d shoot either of the 2 handloads. There’s enough room too for pressure to have options for a variety of wads. I made a similar load of 1.125oz hw15 (euro hull, Longshot, LBC wad) and it’s crushed geese and turkeys.
