This is what happends when a township sells its soul before it has all the details. A horse racing track was going into this area. Area infighting has all but stopped progress on this spot. A spot that is mostly rural. This was a great place for dear, turkey, rabbit and squirrel. They had other places they could have used, that have already been developed, but out of business and abandoned.

They have logged a lot more than what I have shown here. Yes the people got paid to move...but now that they are not even sure they are going to put this track in here. Is that worth it? This was all done in the name of slot machines. Everybody forgot we had a race track that went under 20 years ago because nobody went to it. Oh, wanna know what stopped the progress? The track owners wanted the taxpayers and township to front them 20 million to pay them for building it. Chock one more hunting grounds gone to the lack of logic. :pissed:

That hardly happens around here. Once something gets knocked down here, something else is usually built within a few months. Hell i don't ever notice when something new gets built anymore.

Unless I'm the one Buildin it.

This road is a ghost town now. I liked taking this way to work just to look at the trees and seeing turkey and deer. Now I try to avoid it because I get mad. Behind all of those houses are nothing but woods and a nice creek.

Cephus...I know wht you are talking about. Had that ruling been made a few months earlier, these people would not have got squat for their property. And the results would be the same. It all licks the root.

I heard on the radio this evenin' that she is workin' on it right now... she has been tryin' to show a kinder gentler side since she was 1st Lady, especially with her socialistic goals for the American public.

Oh, and they did a good job of posting all the property, so now we can't even hunt all that is being used for nothing. All they had to do was put the stupid track on land that was already developed. Thats too easy I guess.

snafu, you're not gonna believe this but i may know someone involved in that. where, geographically speaking, is this track supposed to go? also, was one of the plots around 120 acres?

I know it is bad now but give it some time for the undergrowth to come back and soon that place will be overflowing with critters. As far as the posting goes I would bet no one would be watching it that closely.

They tried to get a Casino in a nice tract of open land not 5 miles from my house.Nice turkey and deer woods.Well it was on the state ballot to allow gambling, once approved the Casino would go up.
Fortunately the ballot initiative was defeated and the land stays as it is for now. :salude:
Sorry to hear about your race track nightmare, hope it gets reclaimed by the nature in time.

Shrp, I'm not sure of the acreage is of the place I took those pics. I think the old Hammermill plant (right by Lake Erie) (made paper) property is 120 acres. They wanted to put the track there also. This is part of the reason why our mayor is going to trial...he had his fingers in that deal, money wise. Like Chepus said; "someone got paid." Or was going to get paid anyway. The spot I showed is right off I-90 in Summit township.

I also made a mistake with posted part. A lot of those signs are not there now. Some is posted some is not. I don't know what the heck is going on. For that matter noboby knows. It has not been in the news lately. Or I have missed it. I am guessing that the people that owned their property there did the logging. I guess I don't blame them, if they are going to cut it down anyway, why not sell the hardwood that you own. Right now I really don't know who owns what right now.

You should see southern Wisconsin. They're tearing up fertil farmland, forests, and marshes to build apartments and duplexes. They keep building but there is only a 40% occupancy rate in all of the new buildings. They're so hard pressed to get renters that they're offering 3 months free of rent. A few of my pheasant and rabbit spots have been ruined by this uncontrolled building.
