Who knows? It really just could have been a rupture. Pressurized pipes can fail with a pretty big bang. So it just could be a coincidence. They happen too.
Sweden detected 2 explosions equivalent to 100 toms of dynamite the moment the pipelines ruptured. And they found 4 separate leaks. If one rupture occurred then a leak might be plausible. Also-the day after the nord stream 2 was taken out, the new Norway-Poland Baltic Pipeline opened which does an end around Russia delivering gas to Europe. Who had motive to take out nord stream?

Crazy how bad Russia is doing. I don’t know if they can train enough troops fast enough to get back into this war. They will likely try, and send many more young men to their death. This the self indulgence among autocratic leaders we have seen in the past.

With border disputes in Tajikistan and the escalation of violence in Armenia/Azerbaijan, I truly hope this is not the start of WW3. I fear Ukraine could be the Spain of WW2.

These are troubling times. Putin is a cold blooded murderer who takes out political rivals and even friends for disagreements, so I do not see him caring a bit about how many young men he sends off to die. And no, they will not be well trained. They will be cannon fodder. I am 100% certain Putin thought what we all thought; that the Russian military was absolute topnotch (and they are not) and that Ukraine would be a weekend adventure. That miscalculation has painted him into a corner. He has no easy way out now, so is particularly dangerous.

The entire mess lies at the feet of Creepy Joe putting the US out of the energy business and skyrocketing the price of oil (Putin's gold and leverage), and the idiot Euros who got into bed with Putin for their energy. Even without hindsight, it seemed like a really stupid thing to do.

Don't they just need more windmills?

Russia is looking mighty desperate to using whatever Kaliber Missiles they have left on civilians targets, and even those they can’t seem to hit.

I really don’t think Russia can turn the tide at this point, and this will make Putin even more desperate. I don’t think he’s dumb enough to use nukes, but can’t rule it out either. I really think he will be removed from office the same way Kruschev was. This sadly will not mean a more reasonable ruler will take his place.

We can hope, and agree it does not mean the replacement dictator will be any better. That being said, I do not remember what happened with Kruschev other than he rather suddenly resigned for so called health reasons but did not die for a long time. I do not see Putin resigning because he or his family have been threatened.

Given the situation, I anticipate Putin's paranoia and private security are at the highest level of alert for espionage, so it might be very difficult to convince him to go away as he will see that as a death sentence.

Not a whole lot has happened on the front lines from the reports I’m reading. British intelligence has said Russia has been using their time honored tradition of “barrier units” to gun down their own retreating soldiers.

Going forward I would expect the Russians to just shore up their defenses and try to hold the Donbas and hope they can make it so bloody it’s more worthwhile to make a deal. Might be better for the whole world that happens, even if it is a gross injustice.

I fear that without a military defeat, the Russians will just try again later. But even if Ukraine does win, a humiliating loss could be like the Versailles treaty, which all know lead to WWII.

The China graph. I think the only way that happens is if they throw off communism. All they are doing is extrapolating growth, but to get to 50% of the per capita GDP of the U.S., they need a more efficient economy. Authoritarian governments are not conducive to efficient economies. I still stick with my prediction of years ago. One of two things happens. The government gets more aggressive as it loses control as the country becomes more prosperous and the economy falters badly or the government falters and the economy keeps growing with a more free government. They will and there may be signs that they are hitting a wall between economic growth and authoritarian government. I wish we were pushing harder to promote freedom and free thinking in China.

My bigger concern is that if we don't sweep out the communists (that includes "democratic socialists) from our country that we close the gap by regressing towards them.

Sure seems like a money laundering operation for the swamp, as no one else in the world is showering the corrupt nation with billions and billions of dollars. All of it made possible by Creepy Joe putting the US out of the oil business and spiking the price of oil for Putin to put the war machine into action.

Actually I could give a flying fornicate about Ukraine anymore. We need to get out of there before something really, really bad happens. WE need to get OUR border secure or things are really gonna get bad here.

Actually, few care about Ukraine. It was only a temporary opportunity for useful idiots to virtue signal, and boy did they. I live in a very purple area and all of the virtue signs about Ukraine are gone. Thankfully, most of the stupid - We believe signs are gone as well.

They have been replaced with the new virtue signal signs that say something like - People in this neighborhood care about each other. Or some such empty statement.

Reminds me of the saying - If you live it, you don't have to tell it.
