Anyone here have experience hunting ducks in a bay or near the ocean? I live on the gulf coast of Florida and talking to an FWC officer, any water that is accessible from a public boat ramp can be used for duck hunting. Im new to duck hunting in general but would really like to give it a go.

Thanks

You gonna need a boat with anchors or spud poles, get used to the tide either going in or going out. Large anchors on your decoys, more than likely at least a pound each or use long lines.

6oz J weights work just fine in tidal areas. Use long decoys lines (not to be confused with long lines) and it’s fine.

With that being said, it’s Tampa Bay. I’d keep expectations and investments in check.
