Well, I knew it had to happen one day.....it's here, the first price increase in my 33 years of travelling to Saskatchewan waterfowl hunting.

The new price: $160 CAD, up from $113.83, for the Non-Resident GameBird license ($140 US); and $15 CAD, up from $10.79 for the Wildlife Habitat Certificate ($12 us). Both are now available thru HAL.

The Migratory Bird Permit (Duck Stamp) remains at $17.86 CAD, if you can get in on the website, they are having technical troubles right now with their link and not sure when it will be up. I did manage to get in through the back door and got mine printed online.

That's a bummer but I hope the money goes to good use. I'm getting excited now that season and my trip are drawing ever closer.

It was bound to happen and if guys have to worry about the additional few dollars to go hunting maybe they should take up playing cards.. Waterfowl hunting is expensive as a sport as you can get if a few bucks is the issue solitaire is relatively free....
