Hey guys

I have a natural wetland in New Zealand.

We have always had consistant numbers of puddlers on this lake in

particular mallards but our native shoveler tends to be scarce some years.

I think they may be closly related to yours and I hear they are divers.

There isnt alot written about divers in NZ so how would I encourage more

of them on this lake and any hunting tips would be much appreciated.

shovlers are not a diver duck, they are a puddler. It likes to hang out in shallow bodies of water, most of mine have been harvested in flooded grass fields.

Heres a list of what they tend to eat, food sources are a big affect on waterfowl Aquatic vegetation such as pondweeds, sedges, grasses, and water lilies. Tiny crustaceans, mollusks, algae, insects.

Hope this helps :salude:
