Scroll down and check out the thread I started just a short time ago. My new decoy sleds or something to that effect. To answer your question they work very well, both as filler in your spread, or on their own. I find that stacking them more than 6 or 7 high is cumbersome that will give you 12-14 silouettes.

Captain, I just found your previous post. Those look good. Q: How wide did you make the first sled. Then if luan is a quarter inch i guess the next sled would be a half inch smaller. Correct?

No-No, cut out all the silouettes that you want from whatever material you decide on. I used luan paneling because I had tons of it and I'm a cheap bastard. if you use that stuff make sure it is sealed and painted very thoroughly Paint the silouettes and get them ready to mount. Mount them on 3/4" X 2 1/2" pine cross pieces, one in front and one in back, that will make 1 "sled". each sled will get consecutively less wide by cutting the 3/4" X 2 1/2" pine stringers roughly 1/2" shorter. I mounted my silouettes angling inward to make them easier to stack, and to give them less of a "toy soldier" look while on the water.
