I bought a Zabala 10ga side by side. I picked it up along with a bunch of others intending to resell it. I measured the chokes and it is pretty much Mod and improved mod or light full. Now I am thinking that it would be alright with steel shot. Has anyone used one of these or a Pride of Spain or similar double, with steel? It has a lot less choke then the Ithaca I have and I expected it to be full and full. It is a nice gun with a lot on engraving, looks better then the average Spanish double. eGrant

Just a word of caution with any double gun, whether it be a side by side or over under, have it looked at by a reputable gunsmith to determine if the barrels are soft soldered or not. If they are soft soldered and you shoot steel shot with the gun the barrels will surely part company. If I were you I would shoot no steel through the gun until it was verified steel safe by a gunsmith.

Some of the late 10ga doubles where sold as steel shot safe. I remember reading the ads and spec sheets in the early 90's on a couple imports. With the availability of soft nontox shot there is no need to shoot steel in a old double. I can reload ITX for about $2.20 per shell in 10ga if i wanted. Others are available in factory shells. Beware of 10ga doubles with two triggers, They bite every time you pull the front trigger

I have an American Arms 10 OU with 2 trigs and I love it. 38"barrels and full-full fixed, no tubes. The rear trig is the top barrel and it has lifters, not ejectors. I have never been able to find much info about it. I wish it was a sbs but the oe is cool. Never a problem with steel, 3" BB's for geese in fact. I'd like to see some pics of that spanish side by side if you can.

Looks like the Zabala is sold. Thought I might keep it, guess not. I almost bought another 10ga side by side last week, it had ejectors but someone drilled and tapped 4 holes in the rib. Scope mount? eGrant
