I am new to the Springfield IL area and was wondering where to look to do some public land hunting. Ive done some research and found that pretty much all places need and boat and are impossible to walk in. I hunted all my life in Southern WI and Northern IL but just can't quite find a place to go. As long as I can walk in Im good.

Carlyle has walk ins. I've never been but heard it's a mess most of the time. Shelbyville is farther but also has walk ins. Clinton has walk ins also but it's hard to navigate in the dark.
