I was wondering if they still band many birds with tarsus bands?? Anybody have any idea about this?? If so where do they band birds with tarsus bands?

I saw tons of tarsus bands or "visual markers" this year on my scouting runs. I know people who have shot them over the years (2 I know of this year) and they all come from Port Rowan, Ontario. I hunt out of western New York and these birds are right across the lake from me.

When I bought my new lanyard it came with a duck tarsus band on it that had never been on a bird. I do not know if they band them like that anywhere.

yea they band them with the tarsus band, me and my buds shot a snow goose with an orange band and the good ol steel band, the pit was hot because everyone shot and we didn t kno who should have the bands!

he got to keep it because earlier this season i got lucky enough to shoot a neck collar with his gun while he was releaving himself in the bushes!

They are actually referred to as TARSAL bands....in case ya wanna be ...well, ya know......... :thumbsup:

I have shot two greater snow geese with plastic leg bands one black one red. I have not seen any on Canada geese in Maine
