posting this as a negative against user tcsjrowlett.....the guy strung me along saying he would send me the money for a shotgun I had listed but never heard from him again. I had bumped a couple of other potential buyers from my gun because tcsjrowlett said he would send me the money but after not hearing from him, I went back to the other buyers and they were no longer interested. I finally sold my gun this weekend to someone else. Another time waster.

I paid $90 for an "like new, mint, never been on a layard" RNT Short Barrel, I do not know the guys username as he contacted me via text message regarding a posting I had posted on here wanting to buy an RNT SB or Microhen in Boots on Color. The call came in with a big chip out of the insert, two cracks in the insert and a crack in the barrel.

I wrote him right away and he immediately got extremely defensive (as seen in screen shots of his texts below) which tells me that he knew what was up in the first place. I called him and told him I wanted my money back and would send the call back and he claims the call was shipped in perfect condition and told me "I can send the call back but if I send a chipped call back he isn't giving me my money back and I can go find a lawyer." He was cool with me sending the money as a gift so the 3% wouldn't be taken out for him and then made sure to let me know I should have paid the 3% extra to paypal to rub it in.

After going back and forth and me trying to reason with him and him not owning up to what he had done he came out and said he had pictures of the call before it left the house… those of course never showed up after I asked for them over and over again. After saying he had pictures and I asked him to show them he hasn't answered any of my texts or calls since.

The only info I have of his is below so if anyone knows who this is please help me out...

Apparently this guy backed out of the deal we had. He will not return emails now. He was in a hurry to complete the sale 2 weeks ago and I purchased the money order, sent my FFL to him and every day I was told that it will be dropped off at the dealer until he quit responding. Now I have to cash out a money order with the sellers name and address on it and I am sure that will be a Hassle and possibly more cost. The only thing I can think of is that when he dropped it off the dealer offered him more for it and he backed out of our deal and sold it our from under me.

I just wish he would contact me and let me know Is the deal still going thru or did you back out and sell it to someone else?

I personally have integrity and once I make a deal it is rock solid and I will not screw someone over even if I get a better offer.

If I am wrong on this I apologize but either way at least have the courtesy to let me know what is going on.

Positive update. :thumbsup:

He was informed of my post here and he just called me, It looks like we will proceed with the deal. His work took him out of town for the last week or so and he was not able to drop it off before he left. Very nice guy to talk with and It seems all is well for drop off tomorrow.

UPDATE:

Gun arrived, In pretty close to the condition listed although it has surface rust on it and inside the action was rusty and in bad need of a cleaning, After about an hours work it is in good working order just a little brown on the receiver.

Notice his post in the classifieds for my item Quoted above? and I have the emails where he gets very defensive trying to justify backing out of a deal after giving his word that he was making the purchase. drtybird AKA Ben Lindon told me "the check is in the mail" for a NIB Benelli SBE Then today he tells me he has changed his mind and will be recalling the payment as he found a better deal. Where is the integrity these days where a mans word or a handshake meant the deal was done come hell or high water. I boxed it up, printed his receipt and had it ready to ship so when payment arrived it could go out with as little delay as possible. Do not trust this guy unless you like playing games.

Back For More is now on this list.. I posted this in the "F/S: White Mallards" thread but I'll restate it here "..this guys a scam. I sent Kieth money July 4th, he said paypal take 4-5 days to transfer money which Ive experienced my self but he said he would check July 13th has stopped responding to me. I left a voicemail last night in last hope before I call paypal but Ive lost all confidence I'll actually get these decoys."

I have not been contacted since, paypal has been contacted and made aware of the transaction.

Be advised about this guy. We agreed on a shotgun and talked over the phone, PM, and text. In the end, he sold it to someone else and nixed our deal. He lives in Illinois I believe.

Anything you can do to either report these folks as frauds or at least warn other members would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the warning. I ban about 2-3 people per day that have just joined the site, who appear to be scammers, based on certain info. That, regardless of being as proactive as we can be, can't prevent them all.

The guidance has always been:

1. NEVER pay using F&F. It's not worth saving a couple bucks to get robbed. Friends and Family is for friends and family.
2. Be alarmed if anyone immediately wants to take things to email right away.
3. If they are not a DHC member, be suspicious. If they are a DHC member check how long and what their previous posts look like. Make judgement calls, trust but verify.
4. WTB is the biggest target for scammers but For Sale applies too.

You can always PM me if you see something suspicious and I'll do what I can.
