The other day i noticed my trailer swaying back and forth every now and then, going down the road, bearings and all are in good shape, any idea what would cause this, it's a small trailer, 16' boat, 12" tires?????????

our camper does that when we tow it. i dont think it has anything to do with the weight, becuase all trialers (well most) sway. i would check the tire pressure. Also i think you can get sway bars for trailers if this becomes a growing problem.

Check to see if you have the boat to far back on the trialer. If you don't have enough wieght on the tongue, it can cause it to sway side to side.
That is the exact reason, you need more weight on the tongue, you shouldn't even notice the trailer is there while towing it.

since its a boat trailer, its an easy fix to move the axel back about a foot. it will increase the tongue weight and stop the swaying. I had a buddy that had the same problem. Should take no more then an hour or two, bu make sure that its square with the frame or you will be towing a boat that is tring to pull you to one side.

:dito: the Tongue weight should be about 15% of the total trailer/load weight

Guy's, thanks for all the good advice, as soon as you mentioned the weight, i thought about it, and i did go from a 9.9 to a 25hp motor, definately a big increase in weight in the rear
