Or maybe not.........7-8 years ago I lost my lanyard with my OLT 77 goose & Big river long honker calls. On the lanyard were my first 3 bands....1 Black duck & 2 bufflehead (drake & hen). I just chalked it up to bad luck......so last week I contacted the USGS on a different band matter & also asked them if there were anyway to get 3 replacements. I gave them the numbers & they said that they were registered to someone else   I said how can that be I have the certificates right here & I shot them on Lake Erie? They said due to thier Privicy policy they could not tell me who the JACKLEG, MOTHER ******, PIECE OF **** that has my calls & bands was. I lost them in NC, so somebody down there is posing with MY STUFF. And I thought buyin'em on ebay was bad. TO THE PERSON WHO HAS THEM........I BETTER NEVER FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE....I'VE GOT PEOPLE LOOKING

A few years ago on Sunday afternoon I drove up to a spot on the lake where I like to hunt. I knew that an old guy, who had been hunting that point for years and years had been up there hunting. As I walked to the shore line to scout what do I see, all of his decoys, bags full of them. We're talking old school decoys hand carved, solid decoys. There was his long lines, and everything he held dear.I left them there in hopes he would show up that night and get them before someone else did.

This is going to sound weird, but consider the source. I went back the next night to check on them and they were still there. I did this for three nights, it was a 20 mile drive one way. So on the third night I grabbed them because somebody slowed down who I knew didn't own them. I got a hold of the land owner and got the guys phone number. He lived down State and he was up in his 70's. I called him and asked if he left any of his gear up on the Lake, he said he would check. He came back and said "Oh my God all of my decoys and gear are still up there." I could sense he was close to tears. He said there was a mix up with his son on who was to pick the stuff up.

Well, I told him my name and gave him my phone number and said I would meet him up there the next Sat. to return his stuff. He was so excited when he picked up the decoys on Saturday. It sure felt good to do the right thing. I mean that was his gear, he had hunted over those decoys longer than many of you have been alive. I hope that if I'm ever in a place like that someone would do the same.

I've never taken someone's gear.......If in that sit. I would also make every effort to return them  Well I don't want replacement bands if I can't have the ones I shot. It's not a status symbol for me, but I would really like my OLT 77 back  hard to find ya know

Hey quack I have a 66 I'll sell yeah,,, for about three time more than I payed for it. WHY three times more, good question. Because it's a tryed and true call and it has been the last sound hundreds of ducks have heard. You can't have my bands though that are on the lanyard they mean too much to me

Funny I bought a lanyard off ebay a couple years ago with that call on it and called in all the bands.

  Im just kidding. I have found and kept single decoys over the years but thats about it.

Just food for thought, not that I dont agree with you but If you couldnt find out who had the bands, then that means they could not find out who had the bands either so they just kept them.
