Two easy walkin areas that I know of. Heading north on I-5, take the Conway Exit. Turn left at the stop sign and then make a right at the Shell Gas Station that will take you over the South Fork of the Skagit River and you will then be on Fir Island. Continue down the road for a couple of miles and on the left hand side of the road you will see a sign that says Skagit Wildlife Recreation Area. Take a left there and continue all the way down to the parking area. There is a boat launch and several paths that will take you out to the delta. There are also maps available there too. Make sure you know the tides - very important! The second area is just down the road from this one. Instead turning off to the Skagit Wildlife Area, continue on the main road until you come to a "Y" in the road. Take a left. The road will take you almost up next to the dike and along it. There are actually two places on that road that offer public access and hunting. You will notice the signs and parking areas.

Also a little further on down the main road is Rawlins Road, drive to the end and there is a large area to walk out.

Watch the tides!!!!!

know when the tide will be high and low and then be aware that incoming water will suprise you at how fast it moves and the fact that it moves in from more than one direction frequently.
