I have just built a levee to flood about 10 acres in a native bottom. The levee and where the dozer tore the ground up is bare. Everything else has grass waste high that will flood. The grass will stay where it is, but the bare levee and where they tore the topsoil off to bulid the levee, needs to be planted. After I Break the ground loose I would like to know what to plant on that bare ground, the last week of aug. or 1st week of sept. and will mature to let the ducks feed on this winter. The pipes are closed so the seed may be in wet ground if we get the rain. Located in N.E. Texas.

milo, millet, or maybe even wheat. But i'd say millet or buckwheat would be your best bet this late in season.
