What DLC? I have a Con HC in Hedge and a Sinner in Coco. Both awesome calls but I like the Con HC. I also got a RM CWF I got to use on New Year's Day. Looking forward to using it for a full season.

Ducks sound different this year?
Ducks sound all kinds of different every year, and duck calls run all kinds of different. 'Spose a fellow could stick with the first thing he can squeeze a quack out of, but he'd miss a lot of fun.

Mostly hunters are sounding different lately ! The cost of a call sure has gone up so I'll stick with my DR 85 and Cut-down
for now as they'll still bring down the leaves from most trees , if need be . Some don't have trees where they hunt so how
do they know their call can reach the next county ? Just wondering ? :lol3: :lol3:

If the guy on the far end of the blind's ears are bleeding, you've probably a pretty good start on it.

How's the early Teal season working for you ? Hope the heat in your area goes away soon , so you can give us a scouting report ?
Have usually heard a lot more "questionable" reports by now, but still expect to start seeing seeing teal in the flooded (for second crop) rice stubbles during the next week or two. Generally as if they show up in numbers for the Gueydan Duck Festival and State calling contests held the last full weekend in August.

For the first time in decades, I've no plans to audition a new call or even new tuning this season. Could be that part of the hunt is finally over...
Same here, The new high dollar calls are to expensive to collect also, so, Ive started collecting old ones that reflect the days of old.

This is my first season, so they're all new to me. I'm kinda a call nut. I've coyote hunted for years with hand calls. I've always loved a good hand made custom call. So with that said, I've bought "a few" since January. I also stole a old one from my Dad that I'll be running this season. It's a old (probably 40 plus years old) all wood Thomas Standard. Thing sounds amazing. I also really like the Calef Calls Kamikaze single reed and Shocker; along with the Tim Grounds D Overhauler. Those are the ones I plan to use, along with a whistle. Been practicing since January. I keep the calls in my vehicle and practice a little every day just about. It honestly took me months to get a good quack down. LOL I'm really looking forward to the season.

Never heard a Thomas duck call, but speck hunted with a Thomas predator call for 18 seasons before retiring it while still in working order:

Believe DS5200 is probably right about leaving calls in a hot vehicle and know several guys who've had theirs stolen off cab mirrors. (I carry whichever one I'm wanting to play with in my pocket.)

Anyway, have fun with it.
