WHATS THE DIFFRENTS BETWEEN A 12 GAUGE AND 10

I've never shot a 10gauge, but have a 12 gauge, and I kill alot of birds. In my opinion, I think the 10 is overkill. It puts more shot in the air, but if you can hit birds on a regular basis with a 12, what's the point? The shells are super expensive, and don't kill any further away.

its kind of like the difference between a 20 and a 12 guage, just not quite as much difference. There is more shot, but its the same speed. No more distance, just more shot in the air. Obviously it doesnt hurt your chances, but does cost a bit more...

yeah you can definately tell the sound of one in the distance...
I got a BPS...it dont kick that bad because it's so heavy. For crumpling Honkers or rolling a long beard waaayyy out thaaaarrr, IT CANT BE BEAT.
I got a Nova too, alot lighter for hualin on a death march through the toolies, and them 3.5's will wack a greenhead and teal preatty good too.

:withstupid: big difference. With a 12ga. You get more of a selection to shoot, from small 8-shot to F-shot.

3.5s on greenheads and teal? I feel bad when I dust a teal with a 3"!Ducksbeus said:
Maybe I've miss led some....I shoot my 10 gauge BPS at honkers(TT shot) and gobblers(#4) where I dont have to lug that thing so far.. I live in the Mississippi Delta where mallards are the main duck to fly into the decoys. I use 3.5' #3 Winchesters as they are cheap, and sling an awsome pattern out of my Nova and knocks the crap out of all ducks. I have fewer cripples this year shooting 3.5'' than I did last year shooting 3'' Kent Faststeel.

98 Ramtough summed it up preatty good with the comparison to 20 and 12. 10 gauges are heavy, expensive to shoot alot, and dont offer as much in shot selection.
My Nova 12 gauge is lighter, cheaper, and more versatile with shot selection.
Now I wouldnt shoot a teal with TT...but sounds interesting.

The 12 G. 3 1/2 can hold almoast as much shot as a 10 G, but the 10 still will throw more pellets hands down. If you were going to get a new gun, the most versitile is a 12G. 3 1/2, because they can shoot all the sizes (2 3/4, 3, and 3 1/2. But a 10 G. is still really nice for goose.

some guys say theres not alot of difference between 3.5 12 and 3.5 10. 10 gauge seems to hammer the geese so much harder.ive full patterned geese at 50 yards with 3.5 bbb 12 ga and just rocked them hard sometimes.i have did that with a 10 gauge and dropped them stone cold dead.
