THIS IS NOT A REAL CONTEST NOR DOES DHC HAVE ANY PLANS OF OFFERING SUCH A CONTEST THAT I AM AWARE OF. PLEASE DON'T MAKE ANY ASSUMPTION THAT IS THE CASE. THIS IS PURELY FOR FUN. YOU HAVE NO CHANCE OF WINNING ANY TYPE OF HUNTING TRIP BASED ON THIS POST, OR ANY POST I MAKE FOR THAT MATTER. hey all,

a crazy thought crossed my mind this morning and i wondered if anyone else would want to play along. of course, this is a hypothetical situation and is purely for fun.

you have just won a trip from this site (thanks for the generosity admins  ) for a 5 day duck hunting trip. the only catch is, you have to bring 5 other members of this site on the hunt with you. being hypothetical and all, any expenses are paid for all participants (again, thanks for the generosity admins  ). you can choose when and where to hunt. who would you want to hunt with you, where & when, and whose dog(s)? i'll post my answer this afternoon.

well, first off...i guess the "where" question would be this.

i would take a 5 day hunt down south of the border somewhere..hopefully someplace where we could sneak in a little fishing in the afternoons...and we can shoot liberal limits with lead shot.

as for WHO i would bring, well..i am sure everyone is going to have the same problems of only bringing 5 people. truthfully, i would like to hunt with most of the people here...so i'll pick the 5 that i seem to have the most interaction with.

98Ram
HuntMQ1
Greg Wile
Had
Shrpshtr

if one of them was unable to attend or did not like the idea of the "liberal limit" hutning..i would have a standby list of:

Workenem
Bret
870
SCOutdoorsman

A first reaction is Quackcephus (cause any body with "cephus" in their name has got to be a good ol' boy) shrpshtr, snafu518, greg wile, and alaskaredneck. I would say huntingwife, but she would never make it 5 days. She would be great to have back at the lodge though. A warm body to lay down with everynight, sure would take the chill off from those cold hunts. We would hunt puddlers in flooded timber first thing in the morning. That way we could get in a whole variety of ducks. That afternoon honkers would be on the agenda. We would have to be hunting down south where could get some good old home cooking for dinner and go out a grab a few beers and some good grub for supper. :salude:
I'm not sure, that's a tough one... Someone else invite me, I don't feel like making all the plans, lol. Have a good one.

PS: we'd take my dog.

Mallyard
I feel like we are choosing up sides for a game of kickball.

I'll take Yeller and the 4 youngest on the site. Don't care where. One of the best hunts I've been on netted 2 birds in an entire weekend but I don't know when I have laughed so hard in a duck blind. That's something that needs passed on to the young ones! :salude:
Where would I go? Lake Lewis and Clark, but a second choice would be any wild rice lake in the great state of Minnesota. Man, is this hard to figure out....Ideas are popping into my head! We'd head out on a big boat with blind to hunt the ducks and geese that happen to pass through. Probably an mid to late October hunt. A true mixed bag hunt.

But who would I take? In no particular order, Swamp Puppy and his swamp puppy of course, h20fwlr and his golden, AlaskaRedneK, shrpshtr, & SCoutdoorsman. All of these fellas have had kind words, and a knowledge and love of duck hunting that I hope to match.

So when are we going?
I was holding off my post for the same reason. I had a "fade back" to the days of my youth in gym class. Standing next to the wall waiting for the popular jock to pick me for his team. (And it took a long time to get picked) I have my list. I will post it tomorrow. Just because I am too tired to type anymore.
Hypothetically, I'd take Bucky 1st, and after that I'd take anyone who wanted to have a good time. You're welcome to blow your call uninvited, you can bring your hardmouth dog who farts in the blind and retrieves decoys on command. I'm not picky. I don't care if you say you shot every bird, I don't care if you shoot a Remington or a Benelli. I don't care if you shoot 3 1/2 inch T's or 2 3/4 inch 6's. I don't care if you shoot a 20 gauge or a 10. I don't care if you prefer GHG or Herters. I don't care if you wear Max 4 or fatigues. You can eat my food and drink my water, and you're still welcome to hunt with me. just never tell me you were not invited. I would just assume take a stranger who's never had a taste of duck hunting than a veteran friend who's shot every species there is and hunted everywhere possible. There is obviously people on here who share my perticular views, and that's cool, but there are other people who may not. My number ONE issue is having a good time with anyone who hunts with me. If I don't have you laughing in my blind, you don't have a sense of humor, and that is one thing I cannot permit. So who do i pick for my next four? The first ones who ask. You're never the last one picked on my team, you're just the next in line :salude: Wings cupped, Pete

Sounds like I can go hunting with Pete. I can supply some luaghs and hopefully some great memories. :salude:
The hunt would happen in New Zealand where the seasons on mallards and canada geese are extremely liberal,in some cases year round with no limits.Who would be going I'll just say I have a couple people in mind and for the rest I'll take bribes in the form of cash! :toofunny:
i don't think Pete's generous hospitality was ment to include MY dog's farts. They are just down right WRONG.

alright, i finally have a minute where i can post mine. this is tougher than i thought because there are some great folks on this site. i should have made it at least 10. here goes though...

1st - Where & When? - i love arkansas. i have had many memorable puddler hunts there. i have grown very fond of the canada goose hunting in maryland too though. the only areas i know you can find these with equal abundance is the northern midwest (i.e. ND, SD, Manitoba, etc.) the place with the most liberal limits and plenty of water. puddlers over water in the morning, canadas in the fields during the afternoon. it would have to be early enough in the year though that everything hasn't gone too far south, i am guessing between thanksgiving and chrismas w/snow on the ground and ice in the water (not too much though).

2nd - Whose Dog? - of course, my big chocolate lab would have to be there. but at 130lbs, his fat behind will need some help (even though you can't tell him that) so he doesn't get over-worked. i'll make note by each hunter's name.

3rd - Who? - this is the big problem. too many to choose from. i want to start by saying it would be a lot shorter list if i listed who i "wouldn't" take. nonetheless, i'll list 5 and a backup 5 (similar to what SP did) and why i chose them. in no particular order...

1-Swamp Puppy - it seems like everytime i post something he and i are on the same page. of course, his block headed dog would have to help out.
2-SCOutdoorsman - same as swamp and i need another SC fella to help me show everyone how to shoot. his dog would have to come along as well.
3-Bret - you all have heard him call (audio file post). if for no other reason just to hear him work. btw, talked to him on the phone and he is a wealth of knowledge.
4-Trois_beaux_canards - same as SP and SC. just a good fella to chew the fat with.
5-greg wile - somebody has to be the old guy. another great wealth of knowledge and sense of humor.
6-gahunter - i know i only said 5 but he can have my gun spot. i'll just do some calling, work the dog, and enjoy the time while everyone shoots. besides, i gotta have someone to pick on why i am there and who better than a stinking UGA Bulldogs fan???

if for some reason any of those fellas couldn't go, the reserves...

1-Snafu
2-frazier
3-huntmq1
4-gsphunter - i love hunting over GSP's
5-98ramtough - just so i can feed a duck to my dog in front of him...J/K!!!
6-had

of course, i would hunt with just about anyone here at least once.

Oops, I forgot to include SC's dog. no harm meant
Trois - i was going to put you on the list, but i couldn't remember the spelling of your name and was too lazy to go look it up. he he.
Well, my dogs are stupid so they stay at home. I would pick a good place to hunt that was close to a NASCAR racetrack. We could catch the race on Sunday after hunting all week. I would l debate this with the people on my list to where the best place would be.

H2ofwlr. Everybody wants to hunt with Santa! That and he could teach me a lot. I bet he could punch out some ZZ Top tunes also.

Mark McCummins. I have to take a fellow PA boy with me. He is a teacher and could...I don't know... teach something...I guess.

SC Outdoorsman. He has a truck and stuff. And he looks like a guy I could hang out with. Plus he knows how to post pictures...something I still cannot get the grasp of.

Shrpshtr. I will drink beer with him soon. The 600! And he said something that made me laugh...I think.

The 5th and final spot would go to...

Had or Swamp puppy and/or GAhunter...or woodywoodduck HMMM? The guy that has "SCUBA Steve" as the little picture next to his name...KS Waterfowler, thats it. I am going to have to think about my 5th spot and post it later.

LOL!!! Scuba Steve... :toofunny:

For the longest time i though KS's avatar was of some dude freefalling in a big yellow suit. i didn't figure out that it was a firefighter crawling until much later when he mentioned that he worked doing controlled burns.

duh...
Well this could be interesting.... I sure hope nobodies feelings get hurt with this topic.

That being said--I think I'll be hurting the guys with this, as I'd choose the women here at DHC for the trip and guide them. I think it would be fun to see the women get together and do some hunting and hopefully learn a few things about hunting. have agreat time and possibly they could pass it on to other women in their area similar to the BOW (Becoming an Outdoors Woman) courses across the US.

I think I just offended 99% of the members here with my choice though.

Well since it is not reality, I truly hope nobodies takes this topic to heart and gets hurt.

Admin2
admin2 is just the big pimp here at DHC  :toofunny:
Get in the way of his ladies and your gone!
