Whenever i put something wood in my boat, i will put three coats of Sikkens (sp) weatherproofing on it, and then paint it with this stuff from west marine called bilgecoat. You can get it in a bunch of different colors, and it goes on real easy

You can put 2 coats of marine epoxy on all surfaces/sides of the wood so that water will never touch the wood. This way it can not rot. Then you can paint it with whatever you want, including tuff coat. Be carefull with the black...that chit gets HOT in the summer time.

DZ's right, that black will get hot.

I'd go w/Marine grade plywood w/Neo Mat. Hold it down with the double sided carpet tape. That way the sun is not a problem.

There's also Hydro turf. I've never used that stuff but Ihear it's pretty good. Neither comes in black (I don't think)
