I have a Kara Hybrid boat i built and was wondering how you guys brush them out to belnd in ? I have 30 min drives to where i hunt so it has to be either removable or not fall apart every time im out. ANd the biggest thing is Cheap Cheap Cheap.

I also would love to see a set of easy to make doors i could make. Somthing i could cover up with and be Outasight.

Anyone ?

You can attach raffia/burlap/twine/grass to clothes pins to make adding and removing the grass easy. If you add shock cord around the boat you can also stuff in some natural vegetation to blend in better.

I plan on bringing an old mesh decoy bag to stick some of the grass that I cut in after the hunt to save time on the next outing.

Ideas for doors would be easier with pics of your boat. Here is a link to a thread to give you some ideas

I have some grass i got from wallmart its in a $2.00 Bundle. It's just like rafia i bunched some up in zip ties and sprayed them greener for the early part of the season. Then as the yr went on the paint wore off and the grass keept in tune with the natural stuff. Those were attached to the boat with anothre ziptie on my shock cord.

I just dont have enuf $$$ to pony up to make the whole boat covered. ANd was looking for some info on what else you guys used. Never thought about the twine i have a bucha that. Does it dye at all ? Just to add differnt colors.

I love this boat. With the new local laws i can go in th middle of the marshes and rivers where othres cant due to my 3 inch gunwhales. I can hide in almost anything. Just need to make the rest of the boat dissaper.

Nice looking boat

You could get some die cut camo and secure it to the boat with a hole cut for the cockpit. Then just add some grass to give it the 3D appearance and to break up the outline. The camo fabric under the grass would make it easier to cover with less grass, plus it should save some weight

i would take some vinal coated wire and atach some 1x1s on the out side deck then put the wire over the 1x1s so it is off of the deck. then find some natural brush or vegatation cut it and use wire ties or zip ties to atach the brush to the wire.the point of putting the 1x1s on is to rase to wire up some so it will be easer to apply the brush.the wire mesh shoud be big but make shure the wire is stiff enough to hold its shape.this is probley the cheapest and easest way i could think of doing it.

Yea i did something like that. I used fabric tho and zip tyed some dyed twine and burlap. Along with some natural veg. With this i could just roll it up and stick it in the truck when done. Any who i ened up standing where i wanted to hunt. Dog would sit on boat and there was a tall patch of reeds and cattails i could hide in easy. Best spot ever any only beascuse i had a hummr type boat !

How much can you afford for brushing? If you can afford $60 then this is the way I do it and have for years to cover my 13.6' 4 Rivers for marsh hunting. Nice boat by the way.
I buy a 4 pack of marsh grass. Fast Grass is the best but also cost more. I have used Tanglefree grass for two years now and it is holding up real well.
Grass: $39.99 is a usual price on sale about anywhere that handles it.
Pack of cheap black zip ties. $5
Bamboo garden stakes or find some bamboo somewhere that can be legally cut (friends house, etc) and cut and dry it.Look hard and it will be free.
Black Bungee cord. Army surplus store: $10-15 bucks to do your boat.
Cheap can of Black Rattle can paint.
Stretch the bungee on the bow following the contour of your bow like a triangle shape. I sheet of grass with the tips forward tucked under the bungee hanging slightly over the nose and to the base of the cocpit. Trim the grass around edges so it will drop over the sides to hide the boat shadow. Do not zip tie it down. All grass will be removed for transport.
Now lay two sheets upside down longways. Zip tie them together (not to tight on the ties). lay this piece over your cocpit from front to rear to check length. Trim as needed from the front. Now, turn over the grass of flat ground and zip tie your bamboo crossways long enough to span your cocpit by about 3" on both sides.
Rear and overhead. Bungee up the rear deck like you did the front. Cut a sheet of grass as you did the front for the rear deck. Use the extra pieces you cut off the front and rear pieces to add in where needed and zip tie in some overhead cover from the rear grass and maybe some face and shoulder cover for the cocpit grass. If you have some extra long bamboo you can stick em in the mud just behind your shoulders to hold up the grass over your head and you are seriously hidden.
I lay it all out once set like I want it and it is comfortable laying out and then rattle can it with some black over spray to add some depth if you want or just age the grass wet for a month.
To transport: With the grass on your boat setup to hunt I take the nose piece and lay it on the cocpit grass, then do the same with the rear grass. Roll up the grass from rear to front, run a bungee around it and lay it under a decoy bag on the floor of the boat when hauling or motoring.
For the motor I bundle up natural vegetation and zip tie it together and store it in a mesh bag as stated earlier. We have been doing this on boats for years and it hides unreal. Bulkier that doors and other setups but if you weave a little natural vegetation in from the area you are hunting things work out well.
Just my ideas that work well. To me transport is one thing but hiding WELL is the key to killin em good and not educating them for the next group of hunters to deal with.
Shoot me a PM if you want more info or like the idea at all,, Rock

PS: My Grass is going on it's third season and should get at least 4 yrs out of it and maybe five. Everytime I find Raffia grass cheap like at Walmart or craft stores I weave in a little extra to add depth.
