I'm looking for a new waterfowl gun and I'm undecided between a Maxus or Silver. I've shot a Light 12 for years and like it, I bought a 3 1/2" Gold for the camo finish and wider shell selection which performs flawlessly, it doesn't fit me perfectly. I've handled both the Maxus and Silver in gun shops and I like the high rib of the Silver and it fits me great, if I buy the Silver I feel I'm missing out on the latest Maxus technology. I don't know anyone who has shot either the Silver or Maxus. Any suggestions? I'm not interested in the other B guns. Thanks.

well, as i saw at internet both are more or less......the same.... the maxxus seems to be a firmly rival from those new very modern style guns..like benellis and Xplor from beretta..... big differences favoured the brownings.... acceptable price and high cuality........
On the other hand, there is the most modest and very reliable partner from our adventures..... sĂşper tradicional style, a litle humpback..... sems to be the most lovely, and a very hard contender, the silver....
The silver comes alone, without sitckers on the stock, without kicks reducer systems, without gracoil sistems, without all those galactical choke tubes.......without all those very modern thinks.... but...maybe.... the real one partner from peolple , that almos never know how will became the weekend..rain, snow etc.....
Mi friend.... is a very difficult choice.... good luck.....

If you like the feel of the Silver, jump on it. In the "Maxus best duck gun ever" post I wrote a bit about my experience with my new Maxus 26" in MODB and it's all been positive, but if you want a tried and true gun and you know you like the feel go with the Silver and save a few hundred dollars right now. The Maxus won't be going anywhere....If you want one later grab one, I would recommend one to anyone. I have hunted with both and I just prefer the Maxus now...I liked its adjustability, light carry, and noticeably reduced recoil. I know the last part of my write up here doesn't help you much but in this economic climate the Silver might be the way to go. The Maxus also does not have slug barrels out yet if that is a deciding factor for you...
Good Luck!

Bought a Silver 28" MODB this morning at BPS, its a very sweet machine. Points well, not too heavy, and the recoil is lighter than my Franchi 912 by far. Ran a 3.5" Winchester Supreme BB through it when I got home. Very pleased with my purchase. The Maxus just did not point as well for me, plus I like the semi-humpback design of the Silver. Hope that helps!

I have a silver and love it. Been a great shoting and extremely reliable gun for me. I cannot speak on the maxus as ive never even seen one. In the end go with the one that feels and fits you the best. But you will not be dissapointed with the silver if thats your choice.

Thanks guys for your input. I'm leaning towards the Silver, it fits me better than the Maxus. Safe and good hunting!
Silver is a good gun. Same platform as the Winchester SX2, which has proven to be more reliable based upon the carrier design than was the Gold. I have a buddy that hunted with a MAXUS all season last year and never had a problem. They do, however, produce a little more recoil than the Silver and the Maxus employs a very different gas system and operating sleeve, which I know nothing about. I have heard of some problems with the triggers on the new Maxus's, but I don't know the extent of any problems associated with them, and like I said, a year of hard use in my blind didn't reveal any of those problems. Nonetheless, I doubt you'll regret your purchase, whichever model you choose.

I hunted my Maxus all season. I didn't even pull out the back-up stoeger on the nasty days like I do with the SX3. I had a shell blow up in the barrel, (won't name any names on who loaded it ) But no problems even then. I love it and I love my SX3 both more than a silver or sx2. The reason is that it fits me better. In my opinion the silver and maxus aren't even in the same "class". When I say that I mean strictly ergonomics and feel of the gun. I made my choice on feel primarily and on the fact that *I would have the coolest, newest gun in the blind*. (that was for you cannon)
Okay, I'll admit it . . . the shell that "blew up" in his gun (which means that the hull split), I loaded. As for the "coolest gun in the blind," well, he needs all the help he can get!
