next weekend when i and buddies field set up for birds and it takes about a half hour,(and the odd time we cant get limit of birds) im not going to bitch about a single thing,after reading and seeing what some have to do to get birds.

On stability and flotation.... blinds similar to this are pretty common in our area. I don't suspect we'll have any trouble.

I got them off craigslist. These were in North AL. You may be able to find it elsewhere but I'm not sure where it comes from.

We went up to put the blind together this weekend. We weren't sure what we were getting into but were lucky to find low water. Transportation and assembly went much better than anticipated. Between sweat, mud, mosquitoes and adult beverages, I didn't take a lot of pictures but I'll add some more when my partners send them to me.

Looks like a great time, shortly, to throw some Smartweed seed out on those mud flats. It'll not make it up this year, hopefully, but as long as the soil temp stays under 70 degrees, it will sit in the mud until the warmth of spring and summer allows it to germinate. It'll produce seeds for next fall and regenerate each year. A very good natural duck food and attractant. Jap millet would also be good to broadcast in different spot while the water is out. Also a next year food source. Make sure you wait til the soil temp is under 70 then broadcast or wait til next spring. You want to give enough time to produce a seed head so they can drop seed in the fall and re-seed.

We don't open until after Thanksgiving. It is huntable now but we're going to put another layer of brush on it this weekend and finish some little projects like wiring, jerk strings, etc.

We had a good opening weekend after Thanksgiving but last weekend was slow. Warm weather and low numbers of big ducks have us shooting little ones. The blind is working well and we've killed as many as the other good blinds in the area that I know of so we're still feeling good about the new lease.

I got my son in the blind last weekend for a little shooting and some good blind breakfast.

I killed a banded woody today as part of a late day limit.
