Good choke for a Mossberg 500 shooting #2 steel

It's a cheap gun, but it was a gift from my dad and has never failed me. I'm currently using the stock choke in Modified. I was wondering if Carlson's Mid Range would pattern good out of it. It's a 26" ported barrel if memory serves. I shoot Winchester Super X steel 3" loads in #2. Thanks.

if you can find them, mossberg makes a really nice extended modified tube that works great in the 500. I found one at a local gunshop, and i like it so much i sold the gun and kept the choke. Mossbergs are fairly common in my family so im sure it will get some use.

Carlson's chokes are awesome too. I run them in my 935 and really really like them. In the field they perform like nothing else with lightning steel loads. Going to do some patterning this summer and see if they look as good as they shoot.

The only thing about the mossberg 500 that i had, absolutely hated number two shot. I couldnt kill anything with it when shooting twos, but after switching to ones, it was one of my favorite guns to shoot.

That's funny, because I can't hit anything with two's either!! But I'm new to duck hunting and have only ever shot clays a handful of times, so I thought it was just me. I'll grab a Carlson's and some #1's and see how I do. Thanks!

no problem man. I personally shot #4 through BB in the 500 and had the best luck with number fours for ducks and ones for geese and big ducks.
