Just wondering if anyone here has hunted this wma. I would like a place to hunt that is close to home (hastings). Not looking for anyones spot or an easy way out of scouting. Just if it's worth the time. I was down by sharp muskrat lake and north lake today and saw about 11 trucks or so. Or if anyone knows of some public land around the Hastings area you can hunt. Thanks in advance.

Mauser and I were out there last week at dusk and shot a limit of mallards. Came right in with only three Mojo's running; no calling.

Thanks! I don't even need to go out and shoot a bunch of ducks. Its more or less a time that me and my cousin can bond in the duck Marsh. This is his first year hunting and he is already fully addicted to it! Just being out there among good friends and family is what it's about. Again, thank you for your report. I hope to be a valued member here for quite some time to come. I was originally on this site as Duckzilla, but lost password and deleted email.

I actually at first thought it was a bogus report. I know how people that come in here and ask questions about a certain spot on their first post are treated. I'm not looking for smart as* replies, as I would never give them myself. I'm not looking for anyones honey hole. All I would like to know is if anyone has ever had any kind of success there. I am going to hunt it regardless of anyone saying anything about it. I'm not new to duck hunting chat, even though my name may suggest this is my 3rd post. I'm here to help others and hope that others may help me. I'm sorry if this post comes off as rude, it is not meant that way. I enjoy hunting waterfowl as much as the rest of you. I hope that others can feel welcome when they join in the future.

Specific spot requests in the open are frowned upon just because even if they don't direct you to the certain point that gets you birds, it is directing people to that location which in turn crowds it up. I had no idea where this wma is, but a 2 second google search found it for me. Turns out I do know this place (just didn't know it by that name) and it's no secret to anyone. If you want your spot, get there REAL early.

For the future tho, and this is directed towards others and not just you, I'd suggest "I have a question for someone who knows about the (insert closest city/landmark) area" and ask your direct question by PM. Everyone appreciates that more. If you don't think this maters, just look at the number of views these threads gets compared to the number of posts. This one has 8 posts and almost 300 views.

Well, that's a nice way to say it.

Naming your thread after one of the most piss pounded public hunting grounds in the entire state will piss some people off in a hurry. In fact, this spot was ruined almost entirely by internet posting and scouting. Some of us DO hunt it, and don't care for folks to wave giant flags in the air with the specific WMA name on it for everyone to learn about without effort or investment. Perhaps if you had worked hard and scouted and spent your time and energy in finding where to go, you would realize how annoying it is to have someone naming threads after it and asking how it is. And to answer your question, there was 61 trailers at the launch last Saturday. Good luck

Yes I apologize if I made a boo boo. I understand about posting about a certain spot and if people do good there. Didn't think before I posted. I'm just new to my area as far as hunting goes. And as far as working hard scouting and using my time and energy to find where to go, I happen to be handicapped and can't really get out there to be as vigilant as I once used to be about scouting and working hard to find a spot. No, not an excuse for anything, just an explanation as to why I can't. I know how hard people work at finding something good. And in the future I will make sure to ask questions in a different way.

Weichert, don't let this snafoo run you away from this forum. You didn't know, and you made a mistake - it happens, no biggie. Now you know.

This forum has a ton of great people on it, and is full of great information. I have only been here a few months, and I have learned a lot form these guys and made multiple connections with forum members in person as well.

Stick around the forum and you'll see why all these guys love it so much. Good luck out there this weekend!

Didn't mean to send anyone away from the forum, I love this site and snapping at people isn't my style. I hunted that spot this weekend and flipped a tit when i saw the thread name. Wasn't kidding about the 61 trailers, which is probably why my fuse was short... Good luck to all and be safe with all the kids out there this weekend (MEA)

It's all good guys. I don't get scared away that easy! I know what it's like to have a spot overrun with people. It just plain sucks. Like was said, i know now how to better word a title and keep it more general than naming a spot. I wish you all the best of luck this year! And I thank you for keeping it civil.
