Does anyone have any input about the recoil reducer? Ill be picking up my m3500 in a few weeks and was wondering how much of a difference the recoil reducer makes, if its just a weight. Seems pointless to lug around extra weight if it doesn't make a difference

I, like others who have posted here about their 3500, have occasional issues with cycling light loads with the recoil reducer on. Since it's primarily my duck and turkey gun, I just leave the recoil reducer in all the time and the additional weight isn't that big a deal. My son-in-law shoots it in our trap league because he has back and neck issues, and the added recoil reduction allows him to shoot painlessly. The reducer can work lose, so a little Blue Loctite non permanent thread locker (see previous posts) solves that problem.

it does make a difference on 3 1/2 inch shells but its not terrible without it, I leave mine out all the time, unless im shootin geese

I can't wait to get mine her in a couple weeks! as much as I hate big companies like cabelas, I decided to put her on layaway because of their 6 week payment plan (my other gun shop is only 4 weeks). Ill be honest, it doesn't fit or feel AS good as the versamax, on SBE but I'll get comfortable with her! What have people gotten for after market chokes? I've never used a gun consistently that uses a choke, my 1100 and 870wm were both fixed choke barrels, and I've heard that factory chokes aren't very good. Believe me, I don't feel the need to drop 100$+ on a tube, but what have you guys used?

depends what you are using the gun for, if like me i use mine for everything i hunt, dove, quail, pheasant, duck, geese, turkey and coyote, plus fun days shootin clays

I have carlsons mid and long range waterfowl chokes, pattern great, but we can only use steel shot here in calif for waterfowl, not sure about kansas

dont use the stock turkey choke as several guys have had them expand and get stuck in the barrel, i have a cheap $20 hs strut undertaker turkey choke that shoots a good pattern to 35 yds, yet to hunt turkey with it but season starts in a couple weeks

the stock ic, i use for clays, quail and close dove, stock mod for longer dove, pheasant and the full for hard chargin coyote with #4 buck, these stock chokes pattern decent thru my m3500, much better than my other fixed choke shottys i have had, they always had holes in the pattern but still killed stuff, aftermarket tubes probably would pattern better but im not that anal to buy aftermarket tubes for every type of hunting i do and im cheap....

of course you mileage may vary, after you get the gun clean all the grease off the mag tube and spring and shoot a couple boxes of 3 inch or 3 1/2 to break it in a bit ,then take a bunch of shells you use and start patterning and go from there

Have fun man and post up how your chokes pattern when you can

oh yea, check this while you are cleaning the grease off, luckily mine didn't stick and i didn't have to break it in much, seems like some had this problem some don't but its an easy fix if you do, seems like all the newer ones out now don't have this problem but its worth checking

Another season down with 0 issues. Shot probably 3-4 cases through it including snow goose hunting. It was a slow hutning season for me I was super busy with work.

This was my third season with my 3500 and it shot flawlessly hunting doves, turkey, and ducks. It does not keep the action open after firing all the time shooting light trap loads though, but it's not a big problem. My next gun is going to be a 3020. Does anyone on here own one? I handled one at Scheel's last fall in Lincoln but can't find one in the Kansas City area. Should be a good gun for my grandsons to learn to shoot-only weighs 5 lb. 6 ozs. They are only two, so I'll have it broken in for them when the time comes.

So how are you guys removing the little bolt handle? I need to take this thing apart and clean it up.

Also, I think I noticed the hammer starting to wear. It looks like it's made of a soft metal and it's flattening a little bit. But once I figure out how to take it all apart, I'll let you guys know. By the way, my M3500 shoots right on the nuts! I'd still like a fitted limbsaver recoil pad on it instead of the slip on.
