I'm surprised no one has sent that Rem STS/Longshot load in for testing. I loaded a few up and was stunned by how tight the MG42 is crammed into that Remington hull. I pretty well chickened out on pulling the trigger and dismantled the loads.

However if you sealed the primers with nail polish, you could keep those loads in a bucket of water and the powder would stay dry. Tighter than a cork in a wine bottle.
I have loaded and shot the LS load that Dave talked about in his opening post. The problem I have is I have never been able to get the MG42 wads to pattern well out of anything I own. I have a full bag and a bag that has probably 175-200 wads in it that are just sitting around.
If you decide to offload those MG42 wads I'd happily pay the USPS bill. I bought a bushel full of them when they were on sale years ago. Just this morning I was looking at the last of those wishing I'd doubled down on them.

Finally getting some dove loads ready, 3 shells tested, Rem 12, 2 3/4 Gun Club, win 209, 25 gr Longshot, MG42, 428 gr #6 steel (8 pellets less oz)

Thanks for the updates. They look good, and I have lots of the listed components on hand. I'll make some up!

Am I reading this correctly that the only substitute between the 26 gn. LilGun test loads were the wads which resulted in a 4500 psi difference? And a Sam1 at that .....

NO I was wrong, dam. They were all with Long shot but I also increased the load to 1 oz with the Sam 12, 2.75 wads. So 2 changes. sorry

Rem 12 2 3/4" Gun Club
Win 209
26 gr Long Shot
RSI Sam I 12 2.75"
1 oz steel # 6 with over shot RSI felt
av 1501 16660 psi
EV 22 1700

MG-42 wad will be good then? That Sam1 is for straight walled Hulls? I really only try to load and test MG42 wads (I have bags and bags) and some of the CSD.

for me yes, Rem GC, win 209, 25 gr LS, MG42 (mica slick), 428 gr #6 steel @ 1391 fps EV 16 and 10,533 psi EV 300 (av 3 shells) will
be one of my dove loads. I realize it's only 3 shells but the av of 5 shells with 26 gr of LS was 1438 fps EV 15 and 11,420 psi EV 1100. So for
me, load with 25 gr of LS is fine. I also shoot a 3.5" mag for added security.

I continued with the RSI SAM 1 2.75" wad in the Rem 12ga, 2 3/4" Gun Club, Win 209, 20 gr Longshot, 1 oz steel #6.
only 3 shells tested, results for data point only.
av 1262 fps EV 13; 11,600 psi EV 500, hi 11,900, over pressure

Are you committed to Longshot? If not shoot me a message. I have a few loads using your components minus the longshot.

This is my next load to test and see how it patterns
This is fro the Precision Reloading data in the Remington plastic hull with yellow basewad. I used 31 grains of Alliant Steel instead of 31.5. When I get them patterned I will post my results.

I have loaded #6 steel for dove for short range shooting but here in Nevada there is a lot of long range shooting and high birds.......
so I have moved up to #5 steel to get a little more range and energy to try to fill my limit, on these little missles.

Have a great season.
