I hunt in E. Wash state. It can get pretty cold here. 10 miles rides in my open boat on the Columbia River in -0 to 10 degree temps are not uncommon. At 30mph the wind chill has to be way down in the minus range. I have a Duck Oven and and use my Delta wading jacket over the top. Also have a Dakota beenie. Keeps the cold and wind out and I have never gotten cold. No comparison to other coat combinations that I have owned..

This was from Thanksgiving morning...

Just got a duck oven. Hunted once with it so far this season. Temp was around 60 with 25 mph winds. Stayed warm with a cotton shirt on underneath.

The duck oven, the neck gator, and the Hudson is what I own. 1 thing I would get is the duck oven.
How do you like the Neck Gaiter?? It's one piece I'm really wanting, but no one has it in stock.

I would be interested to know too. I found the Optifade Waterfowl face mask on clearance and took a chance. I would not recommend it. For me, it kept moving around and I had to keep adjusting it. It got rather annoying. I ended up starting to just call right through the mesh and it actually seemed to work ok.

I have the Bandit (not sure they make that anymore) but I like using that one because it is easier to pull up over your face. That said, I only use it when someone else is calling. I also use is sometimes like a lighter neck gator for warmer weather than what you would use the neck gaiter in. It works really well keeping the heat in but I do not overheat.

The neck gator is awesome! the biggest thing is its nice and thick and windproof. The fur inside is also nice and probably the most comfortable/ warm gator ive ever had. Getting my hunting buddies one for xmas this year since they all like mine so much

I have the duck oven, pantanal set, and a boreal jacket. If I were going to recommend any of these to somebody wanting to try Sitka I would go with the pantanal bibs and the duck oven jacket. The bibs aren't made for extreme conditions but they do provide some warmth and the best part is that they are gore tex. Really wanting the boreal bib pant but can't justify the cost during an El Niño year.

Then get the Kelvin pants. They will provide all the warmth you will need with your bibs.

Cold would be a wonderful thing at the moment in this state.

Does anyone know of any sales that are going on at the moment for any of this product? Also looking for the neck gaiter online. All the main stores (macks, sitka website, basspro) are sold out of it at the moment.

Here ya go:

I have dealt with Kevin's before and they are a very reputable company.

In fact, I just ordered one in waterfowl from the link above. I searched for promo codes on line for a bit while I watched tv and couldn't find one for a $35 purchase on Kevin's (they had free shipping on larger purchases) so I just paid it. It cost $8 for shipping for a total of $43.

Also found it here:

I have never dealt with this company but you may be able to save some on shipping... I don't know, I didn't try.

Neck gaiter is as good as it gets. Just unbelievable really.

I would say the duck oven, dakota vest and traverse 1/4 are absolute musts and for me in north LA pretty much cover needs for duck season. Just got merino base layer and delta wading jacket for christmas and cant wait to try them out.

PANTS - grinder and gradient!!!!! After years of searching i have finally found the best wader pants ever. One for warm and one for cold. I bought the grinder in solid so i could wear every day as well. I can already tell i have some new favorite khakis.

5* and snowing outside just now, and for the life of me I don't know how it can be snowing at that temp?
Sure doesn't feel that cold as Weather.com claims it is now?

Just got a Hudson jacket for birthday about the first of the month and worn it one time. Just got the Traverse Zip T for Christmas, and will wear them both tomorrow.
Am going to bring some extra things to layer underneath the jacket, 'cause unless some of you younger guys have been on blood thinners, you can just count on recalculating everything about warmth!
I have the big white Bunny Boots, but if it's that cold outside to really need them, they'll look good sitting on the fireplace hearth while I'm in the recliner.
Otherwise, I have the canvas, wool insert Mukluks, that I used to fly in up in Alaska. They're the old military surplus kind, and very light. Used to wear them to about ten/fifteen below zero, but my feet get cold easier now, so zero may be about my limit for any hunting.
But I am gonna look into gear that will cover face, and especially the nose in near zero temps.

I used to thrive in the really cold weather, but these days I'm starting to consider more early to mid season hunts, and the first few snow events behind me will be good enough each season going forward after this year.
Hey! It happens!
